The Rotary Club of New Brunswick held the annual Paul Harris Recognition dinner and installation of officers and board members for the 2017/18 year at Panico’s Restaurant in New Brunswick on June 8, 2017.

The Club honors individuals as a Paul Harris Fellow when they perform exceptional and distinguished service in their community and contribute to the success of Rotary goals. Michael Blackwell and Sharan Jain were recognized as Paul Harris Fellows for the third time. Blackwell was also honored with a proclamation from Mayor James Cahill that acknowledged his community projects, charity work, and organizing large special events in the greater New Brunswick area while serving as Superintendent of Recreation for thirty-nine years.
The Club also honors non-Rotarians who have represented the values of Rotary with exceptional service in their local community. Bruce S. Morgan of Highland Park was honored for his community activism and socially responsible activities. He was joined by his wife Deborah Morgan who spoke during the presentation of his Paul Harris Fellowship.

Another highlight of the program was Adrienne Bzura who provided comments on the history of Paul Harris Fellow Recognition which acknowledges individuals who contribute $1,000 to the Rotary International Foundation. She is a Past District Governor, a long-time member of the Rotary Club of Old Bridge-Sayreville, and recently appointed by Rotary International to serve as a member of the RI Constitution & Bylaws Committee.

The Club also inducted Stephen Ferrara as a new member during the evening program. He is the seventh member attracted to the Club during the past year. Stephen was joined in the ceremony by his father Ed Ferrara and his uncle Paul Ferrara, who is a Rotarian and Paul Harris Fellow.

Finally, the incoming club officers and members of the board were installed. Robert Zeglarski conducted the formal ceremony. Bob will become the District Governor in 2017/18. He has been an active member of the Roselle/Roselle Park Rotary Club for over 20 years and served as Assistant Governor for eight past District Governors. Pamela Stalcup, the in-coming President, concluded the program with remarks describing her vision of the Club’s activities for next year.
